No Excuses!

"People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should worry about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas." I don't know who said this but I do know that it is only too true. The holidays are over, but the Super Bowl is tomorrow and Valentine's Day is less than two weeks away and Mardi Gras is in 10 days so there is always an excuse to overeat.

We also come up with lots of excuses to stay home from the gym. "I'm tired" or "I have too much to do" are the ones I use the most often. Lately, though, I have loved the gym because it has an 80 degree saltwater pool, and I am learning to swim. My husband bought me fins and I am gung-ho about going. It's about time this grandma learns to swim herself after making sure her grandkids have received swim lessons for years.

I guess the key to weight loss is to eat right and find an activity that is enjoyable. It also helps to use Sparkpeople to track your food and activity. We have the tools.

Imagine having the confidence to wear cute, stylish clothes and loving to have a photo taken. If we take responsibility for making this happen, we will feel so empowered. We have the potential to transform ourselves in a dramatic way. It will be gradual though. Sometimes the scales will seem stuck. At times like that, we have to know that even though progress is slow, it will be worth it. We are worth it!
