Now, know that I am NOT a craft person! I have been looking for something fun to do not on the computer. I was given a sewing machine before Christmas and want to start using it---for fun. So this might be a project I can handle.
My me time consists of sitting in my sewing room and working on a project. Very relaxing. Good luck on your pillow slip, good project to start with. It will be lovely! Waiting to see your finish project.
Sewing isn't as hard as it looks. Lots of patterns out there to learn with. Pillow cases is one of the first. Here is a web site for ideas you might enjoy. http://www.allfreesewing.com
I ought to make that a goal for this year, to go back to sewing. I've not sewed since before my grandmother died. I inherited her machine. I remember years ago in home ec class, my first sewing project was a simple little drawstring purse. Very fun to make, very easy, very cute. This pillow is cute too - and you'll have fun finding fabrics that will coordinate with your room!!
Enjoy ........I myself will sew on a button once in a while or mend a seam by hand! Seems like I've gotten far far away from craft projects. All the best!
Great Project. Have Fun With It. You Will Be Able To Do It. God Blessings To Everyone. Have a Delightful Day and Wonderful Week. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Growing up, my mom made pillow cases for us for all the holidays out of material with borders. The Christmas ones were my favorite. After my son was born she made them for him too. They are part of our holiday tradition, as well as a great keepsake.
I grew up learning to sew from my grandmother and mom. Made a lot of my own clothes back in high school. Now I am quiliting and in our quilting guild we make pillowcases like this for the battered women's shelter. When they leave the women and children get to take their cheerful pillowcases with them as they hopefully go to a better beginning. I think you will enjoy this project. Happy Sewing!!!
Looks like a great project! A few years ago I made holiday pillowcases for each of my 5 granddaughters for a whole year. I made the Christmas ones do double-duty by giving them a drawstring closing so I could use them to hold their Christmas gifts that year.
