Past couple of days have been an absolute drag, but I'm starting to bounce back. Yesterday was Junk Food Friday (JFF). I learned my lesson from LAST Friday and stuck with smaller portions. I had Five Guys Burgers and Fries! YUMMY.
Today is *not* JFF, though, so it's back to portion control. One of the things I did was got hold of a digital food scale. Today, I measured out the serving size recommendation of pasta, duck, and veggies and was SHOCKED at how MUCH there was of it all! For the pasta: 3 ounces. For the duck, breast meat, no skin: 3.5 ounces. For the veggies: 80 grams.
This is what it looked like:
I couldn't believe my eyes! That was WAY MORE than I was expecting! I can't do measurements in my head. I can look at a surface and see angles; if I were to throw something, I can easily tell which way the object will bounce. But if someone tells me "It's 20 yards" or "3 ounces," I have NO idea what that means.
Having measured it all out, I now SEE what it looks like!
Still, there was more starch and meat than veggie. I think, next time, I'll do HALF the meat and starch and DOUBLE the veggie. I'm not supposed to eat MORE than the recommended amount, but nothing says I can't eat less. =D
