Week 2 - HM Training Complete

Saturday, February 02, 2013

Just finished up my long run for this week, making this week's training complete! Woot!

Here's how my workouts went for the week:

Sunday: Rest
Monday: 30 minutes of treadmill intervals (jog/sprint/walk)
Tuesday: Full Body Circuit Training (and snow shovelling)
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3 mile treadmill run (avg pace 11:30)
Friday: 10 miles on the stationery bike
Saturday: 5 mile run (avg page (11:34)

And since today was the only day I ran outside, I can share my Garmin splits with you! I ran at Peterson AFB along their running path - I didnt know the distance of the path so I decided I would do an out and back of 2.5 miles - that worked perfectly because the trail I was on ended at 2.5 miles so I would have had to turn around anyway. Part of the trail had some gradual hills that really messed with me (especially on the back end) but I stuck through it and only walked for a brief 15 seconds to catch my breath on the last hill pass. The weather was 36 degrees when I started and 38 degrees when I ended. I wore compression pants, a long sleeve running shirt and my running jacket. By 1.5 miles in I started to feel a bit uncomfortably warm and had wished I didnt have my jacket. Guess I'll remember for next time. I have a lighter running jacket that I should have probably worn instead. I didnt bring a water bottle with me and I also regretted that. After my run I felt dehydrated, and like my blood sugar had dropped. I just ate a sandwich from Subway and I am still not feeling so great. I always forget I have that blood sugar dropping problem - it seems to be worse in the altitude up here. I will start packing fuel and bringing my water bottle belt on my long runs from now on to prevent this from happening.

1 -11:43
2 - 11:46
3 - 11:30
4 - 11:46
5 - 11:08

Total Time: 57:49.9
Avg Pace: 11:34

And yet another reason why I have the best boyfriend: I came home from my run to find his car in my drive way, and him in the backyard working on some final touches on my patio (the stone around the frame of the pergola still needed to be cut down). He didnt even tell me he was coming over! :)

I'm gonna go find some juice to drink to help with the blood sugar issue, then hit the shower. Have a great weekend!

Great timing for a run - especially withs hills! I always bring water with me (even on 3 mile runs) and use fuel for anything 5+ miles. Although packing all this stuff ahead of time can be a pain it is so worth it while you are running.

Yay for your great boyfriend emoticon

I think snow shoveling counts as more circuit training ;-)
Nice splits!! I did 5 miles today, too :-) Definitely bring water and some fuel now that your runs are going to be over an hour.
He is definitely a keeper!!
