I love Phil

Saturday, February 02, 2013

I love Phil. Punxsutawney Phil that is.

"Legend has it that if the furry rodent sees his shadow on Feb. 2 on Gobbler's Knob, winter will last six more weeks. But if he doesn't see his shadow, spring will come early. The prediction is made during a ceremony overseen by a group called the Inner Circle. Members don top hats and tuxedos for the ceremony on Groundhog Day each year."

"Phil is known as the "seer of seers" and "sage of sages.""

Can you imagine being drug out of bed in the middle of your long nap & paraded outside in front of thousands of people. Then of course, there are all the lights & cameraas. Poor little guy, but he always seems to be a gentleman.

Are his predictions always correct? I don't know. I'd guess it depends on where you live. Maybe they're always correct for Punxsutawney, PA where Phil lives. But Phil's definitely cuter than the wooly worms.

By the way, Phil said we'll have a early spring!

Its a fun tradition and as good an indicator as any other! I hear tell he's given us the sign for an early spring this year--sounds great to me.
