One Week At A Time

Well, it's February! Haha I can't believe January went by so quickly!

The bad news: I only lost 1.2 pounds last month! That's 3.8 pounds under my New Years Resolution Goal! :( The good news, though, is that I lost weight and did not gain anything, so there's always that. One thing I definitely learned is that I am totally capable of maintaining my weight without being anal and meticulous about counting calories and such, which is nice to know! There are too many scenarios where people successfully drop the weight, then gain it right back and then some. It shows me that I've made a real commitment, and that my lifestyle has truly and permanently changed for the better, so hooray! That's a great achievement, I think!

So this month I am determined to get back on track! Even if I just lose three pounds for the whole of February, it will be a drastic improvement, although my paper goal is five pounds. To achieve this, my focus is going to be on weekly goals!

Official weigh-ins will be every Friday, and the goal is 1-1.25 pounds lost per week. So if I'm 190.6 right now, next Friday the goal is to weigh 189.6-189.35. I think that's pretty reasonable. These are also my goals for the following week: 1.) Eat out only once. 2.) Exercise at least 3 times this week for at least 20 minutes each. 3.) Let zero veggies, fruits, or meats go bad! Haha I know that seems small, but baby steps for progression have worked for me in the past! I'm excited to start seeing progress again!

I'm still pretty bummed out about my financial situation being much tighter than I expected with the purchase of my new car (which is still awesome! Will the shock ever go away?). It's easy for me to get bogged down by that sort of stuff and fall into another emotional slump, because my whole life I've been a pessimistic person (not anymore, I hope!). So what I'm going to start doing is putting the cork board over my computer monitor to use! Instead of pinning mail and bills up to it, I'm going to start pinning goals and little dreams to it. I bought some fun colored index cards and felt tip pens, and whenever I get an idea or an aspiration, I'll write it down, maybe jot some ways to accomplish it or a cost, and pin it to the board. When I achieve that goal, I'm going to cross it out with a big fat 'x'! The idea of a board smothered with those note cards and having some crossed out is an inspiring image in my head.

Haha the first card that's going up there is "buy a new car" with a big fat 'x' already on it! Others include a road trip to Michigan, reach 180 pounds, save x amount of money, maybe even more crazy things like buy a 12 day trip to New Zealand for my 28th birthday! Whatever crosses my mind that I have a tiny iota of passion or excitement for, it's going on the board! I can't wait to see where this hair-brained scheme of mine takes me.

Well, it's about time for me to start my day! After a breakfast (not lunch, because I'm up way to early for someone who works so late!) of a nutri-grain eggo, oatmeal, and green chai tea, it's off to my grandmother's real estate office where my mom is going to help me file my taxes. Not sure what else the day will bring besides a shift at work, but I'm excited! Haha even if I don't have the day off, I'm always in a good, optimistic mood on Saturdays. Wonder why that is?

I hope everyone out there is having a wonderful Saturday themselves and are deep in the middle of making amazing things happen! Again I promise I'll get all caught up with everyone's blogs and comments and such in the next few days!

    Congratulations on losing instead of gaining! Every pound is progress! You have a plan and it sounds like you will be able to stick with it!

    I used to be a really pessimistic person too, so I really understand how hard it is to break out of that cycle. I love the cork board idea! I have a huge one I really need to re-finish and put up. Just focus on your goals for this week and try to do something today that helps you meet your goals (like exercise or a healthy meal). Then at the end of the day, note your accomplishments. Sometimes it's the little things we focus on that get us out of our big slump.

    YAY for great goals! I like the board idea. That's awesome. I might incorporate something similar into my day to keep me on track.

Also, you can do your own taxes online easily for free or very low cost at taxhawk.com. They even have direct deposit for your refund. I do three to four people's taxes on it every year, and it takes me less than an hour.

I love you, Sissy. You're my main inspiration that keeps me going, even when I don't want to. We can do this!
