While those emoticons say it all, I am not a woman of few words, so I shall elaborate.
I started Sparkpeople in 2011, about 5 months before my wedding. I wanted to lose a few vanity pounds and look extra amazing for The Big Day. I have to be honest, it didn't work the way I hoped it would. I did lose the weight, but more because I did The Master Cleanse (aka. crazy-person's lemonade diet) than because I worked out enough and followed my Sparkpeople plan closely enough.
Don't get me wrong. I don't hate The Master Cleanse. It worked for me, and I actually enjoyed the process, but it definitely isn't for everyone.
Anyway, I got a little lazy with my food tracking and my workouts after my September, 2011 wedding. Then I got back into it around my birthday last year (April 2012), and then I got busy at work and started backing away again at approximately my first anniversary (September, 2012), and it wasn't that I was yo-yoing... I was just gaining weight.
At Christmas, I got a Fitbit. And at the first of the year and a full 20 pounds heavier than my wedding weight, I married my Sparkpeople account and my Fitbit tracker, and I got to work.
I'm setting my goals in increments - the first increment was 9 pounds, which brought me back into the "normal" BMI range. I stepped on the scale this morning, and I am officially "normal" because I sloughed off that last pesky pound this week. Woo-hoo!
My next goal is to get down to wedding weight, which is another 10 pounds from here. I've decided to keep with my same Fitbit plan (Kinda Hard - losing 1.5 pounds a week or a calorie deficit of 750 per day) and if I'm successful, I'll be at my wedding weight by my birthday!
Today, to celebrate, I'm going to try and walk 15,000 steps with my wonderful workout companion, Pluto (Great Dane).
Oh, and I'll put up photos of my progress, because I finally feel like I've earned the right to show off!
