January Jumpstart Challenge

This was my first-ever challenge on SP. I joined it via the sparkblog entry that I read while getting my sparkpoints. I had never been interested in trying any of the videos offered here on SP, but the challenge gave us 6 videos to do per week, repeating them for 4 weeks. It also asked that we do at least 30 minutes of cardio per day.

What I learned from this challenge:

SP vids rock.
Coach Nicole rocks.
It's okay to yell "I hate you" at the computer screen if you know you don't really mean it and Coach Nicole can't hear you.
Hooping counts as cardio.
I need to remove breakable objects from my work-out area.
Muscles respond to 7-10 minute work-outs, they really do.
Sometimes muscles don't want to respond the next morning.
If others see you dedicated and CHANGING, they want to join you.
Trust the process.
It works.

What I won:
I lost 5 lbs and gained muscle tone in January!
Hubby started doing the videos with me starting in week 3.
Daughter picked up my hoops and started hooping every other day this week.
They did this without me proding, pleading, or promoting at all.

Now, I'm eyeing the 28-day Bootcamp challenge to do for my February.

I don't really hate Coach Nicole.

Keep sparking on, my friends! Not sleet, nor rain, nor snow, nor breakable objects will stop us!

It IS amazing what 10 minute bursts of strength training can do, isn't it??

I am new to hooping, but LOVING it. I have very little hooping stamina so far, but hope to have more by the time the weather warms up. While inside, I try to only do "on body" moves so as not to break things. The ONE time I tried something off body, the hoop rolled away and right into my poor kitty!

    I clicked your blog because it made me laugh.... and that's always a good thing. But you made some very valid points especially that we don't have to kill ourselves daily with exercise and "diet" to get results. This can be a fun and rewarding process. Thanks for the encouraging words emoticon

    Great Job! I attempted the challenge, but only made it through the first week then injured my knee (complete stupidity, not even workout related) and then I got "sick". Turns out sick = pregnant for me this time around, so I'm happy I didn't push myself. I think my next challenge to myself is going to complete the 28 day boot camp, but allow myself 56 days to finish it. Gotta keep moving!

    Prior to the January Fitness challenge, I never took the time to review any of the videos offered! After 4 weeks....I have a new love in my life! I started the 28 Day Bootcamp on 02.01.13....so far so good!
