Are you a Thermometer or a Thermostat?

Saturday, February 02, 2013

Are you a thermometer or a thermostat? Melanie Beattie wrote an interesting piece talking about the difference in the two. She said that people who are in the 'thermometer' category tend to reflect the attitudes of the company they keep. A thermometer on your back porch is only going to tell you the temperature outside but it can not do anything about it. On the other hand a thermostat can regulate the temperature depending on what is needed, either cooler or warmer. Likewise a person who is a 'thermostat' can select to determine his or her course of action and then opt to follow through with it. Thermometer people often know where they are at but do not do anything about it. Thermostat people also know where they are at but chose to do something about it.

So what kind of person do you want to be?

I am choosing the thermostat version. I am going to eat healthy, exercise, log in to SP and strive to keep balance in my life. By choosing these activities I will be archiving my weight loss goals and creating a new me!
