February OW Blog Challenge Week 1

So for our FEBRUARY CHALLENGE I propose we commit to creating one blog per week. Just a reflection of your thoughts. No guidelines. Every Saturday I decide to make a blog post. I don't know in advance what I am going to write. I just sit and think about my week and think if there was anything challenging or anything new I learned about myself or this journey. I think reflection is a very powerful part of this process. So what do you say? A weekly blog post challenge? Doesn't have to be on Saturdays - just choose your day and if your blog doesn't show up in the side feed then tell us in your chat thread that your blog is ready so we can go check it out. Privacy settings affect whether or not your blog entry appears in the side feed.

WEEK 1

This week was frustrating for me. I did well with my eating choices but had too many occasions where an alcoholic beverage was consumed - ie. Happy Hour. I know even one glass of wine screws up my weight loss by changing my insulin level. It is hard for my body to get back into the rhythm of burning calories from stored fat when I give it such easily converted energy. I don't want to give up wine completely but I may have to for a while.

My exercise was a bit off also. I only did the elliptical one time in the past 10 days in the morning. All the other times was in the evening and I think when I do it in the morning it is more effective during my day. The energy it creates makes a momentum that I continue into the day, where as in the evening I don't use that momentum because I go to bed a couple hours later. So I really need to try to get back to morning exercise. Another benefit from exercising before work is that I mentally "know" I've done a good thing and then use that feeling to make better choices with food because I don't want to "ruin" the effort I put in.

My water was good this week. I could definitely use more veggies. I also had "just one bite" of something every day which although was good compared to eating a whole serving, was just wasted calories feeding my "I can have a taste and not go nuts" mentality. I really didn't need to have even that one bite. So this week I will try to be better about that.

So my goals for next week are to focus on exercise and veggies. emoticon emoticon

    Wonderful blog!! I love "just one bite" and may use this some day. Right now one bite is leading to binges so I'll have to avoid my trigger foods.

Anyway....I love the challenge and will work on my blog now.

    Awesome Blog Chris! I like the way you set this up and reviewed your week... I'll try to do this same type blog tomorrow. I would try and put one together tonight, but I am too sleepy and I need to go pick up DD#2 from work. I know for a fact the cold snowy weather will definitely wake me up!
I should hopefully have some time tomorrow to think and write.
