Romans 7:14-18
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Hello guys and gals.
I have had a couple of good days. I had to go to the dentist yesterday. I thought that my extractions may have became infected. The dentist did not see me but his nurse and she treated me for dry socket. I have these bumps along the outside of my gums where the teeth were pulled and it doesn't feel right. Oh well I guess if I have any more complications, I will call them up.

Asher is finally better. He has a little cough, but his temperature has not been high. But I think he got his mama and me sick. My body is fighting something off, I hope it gets rid of it before I get to feeling to bad. Tamie has been sick for the last 3 days. I hope she gets to feeling better before I go on the Men's Retreat. I am looking forward to saying goodbye, if you know what I mean.

I have a simple question. Why is it so easy to get into bad habits and sin? I have heard it said that it is in our nature to sin. Paul struggled with his sinful nature. As I read the passages of Romans 7:14-18 I feel most of us can relate to Paul here. Why do we struggle so much with our sinful nature? This is not only our sin we are having to struggle with but also our eating, and exercise habits. I find that we mess up when we are at our weakest point, when we are tired, or stressed out. Sometimes it feels easier to just give in and not struggle, but we have to remember the reward we are working for, Heaven and fitness. There are times I try to remember the torture Jesus went through for my sins, and how my sinning is still putting Jesus on the cross. We need to keep him off the cross and in our heart at all times. Our best defense against our sinful nature is to walk and pray in the Spirit. Doing this helps keep our minds strong enough to fight back and do what the Lord wants us to do.

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for this day and this message. Lord thank You for being our guide in this lifestyle change and in our journey to be closer to You. Lord I ask for strength to pray and walk in the Spirit each day and to fight the temptations that come against us. Lord I ask that you protect us from our fleshly desires and lead us down that narrow path of righteousness, and we will give You glory and honor in everything. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

You would think that having the Spirit within would help us never to sin...but it simply isn't true. Paul recognized that, but did not use it as an excuse, and neither can we.

As a retired dental nurse, I can tell you that you are feeling the edge of the tooth socket in the jawbone, which is usually supported by the tooth. It will gradually smooth off as the extraction heals and the socket fills with new bone. This takes up to six months for the extractions to totally heal inside. It will heal faster if you can keep your tongue out of the holes! Bear this all in mind if you are having an expensive plate fitted. Get the cheap one first to allow for healing, or there's a chance that the expensive one won't fit six months from now, something that sometimes dentists are loathe to tell you!!

This is a really good lesson today, emoticon
I pray that all 4 of you will soon be well, again, and that you/other men enjoy the retreat.

emoticon Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
