I just posted this on the IP Spark Page, but in case you're not a member there it's worth sharing with others, too.
Tonight, we were talking about accepting, seeing and LOVING our gorgeous bodies as they are - right now and as we continue to lose the weight - this remains a challenge and opportunity for most of us. So, I want to share an exercise my life coach shared with and invited me to practice daily about a year ago. Some may find the very idea to be ... shocking, off-putting or even a "non-starter" (like I initially did) but I encourage you to try it. Even after a few days of this practice, I found I was seeing myself and feeling differently about what I saw in a more positive and loving light. I hope you have a similar experience.
Okay, so the exercise is called the "Body Blessing". Stand in front of a full length mirror, nude. (Okay, stay with me now, LOL!) Start with your face and work your way down, touching each feature and body part and as you do say the following, "I love my [fill in the blank with whatever body part you're touching and looking at just then]." E.g., Touch your hair, "I love my hair." Touch your forehead, "I love my forehead, etc." Especially, touch and look at the places on your body you usually disregard and/or hate to see, e.g., " I love my belly" (and grab some rolls), turn to the side, and reach behind you and stroke your back fat, and say you love it, too.
Here's the real kicker, at least it was for me, turn around, bend over and look at your behind, grab and/or stroke it and say, you love it, too! (I told you this might not seem do-able at first) but trust me, at first you'll cringe, then you'll laugh, then you may pause and notice new things about your body you'd never noticed before. Like, honest to goodness, I learned I have a heart shape flat mole on the back of my mid-thigh! I never would have noticed that if I hadn't of bent over and taken a looksie! LMAO!!!
Have fun with it - de-mystify and remove the stigma of facing your body head on - and making friends with, even, hopefully loving every inch of it. It really IS WORTHY of our total love and adoration as it carries us around and allows us to enjoy so many things in this life!
