When my niece asked me to wear RED for the whole month of February to show my support for Children born with Congential Heart Conditions, I wholeheartily agreed. Her daughter, ShirleyAnn, was born with only half a heart. Born just 3 days before the Family ReUnion, I remember my sister having great concern for both my niece and the newborn. I had no idea how dangerous this condition was for ShirleyAnn but told my sister that I would keep them in my prayers. When I got home and learn a lot more about Children with Heart conditions, I asked my Church and everyone I knew to pray with me. Today, after many, many surgeries and finally, in desperate cirumstance, a heart transplant; ShirleyAnn is thriving and as healthy as she can be with all that she has been thorough. She is living proof that God is a miracle worker!
The wearing of the RED is having a grand effect on me. This morning I got up more determined than ever to get myself healthy. I think since February is National Heart Month wearing RED is a great idea. I walked this morning in the crisp, fresh air without either walker or cane and did more than I thought that I could.....5 laps around the Senior Center. My intented plan is to do this every weekday. I even have begun asking others to join me. Telling ShirleyAnn's story to other people appears to encourage them in their own health struggles. It is amazing to have her as a reminder that nothing is impossible for God. We can, with Jesus at our side, do and survive many struggles. I am wearing RED, ...I am remembering ShirleyAnn for the miracle child that she is,...and I intend to let myself be inspired to do what I can to get myself to the best health that I can, to lose all the weight that I need to do for my health, and to keep on, keeping on. Wear RED for the children, See RED for the motivation it can be, and Know RED can be a collective adventure to good health. I can do it, you can do it. Together we can support one another to be the best we can be.
