Hi everyone. This is my first blog posting about my weight loss journey. This time I am determined to take back my life.
Since my early 20's I have struggled with my weight, and the many fad diets that I thought could be a quick solution. About ten years ago around the same time of year, I woke up one day and decided I had had enough of being overweight. Only, I went about things the wrong way, getting my hands on ephedra pills and essentially starving myself to my goal weight. My hair started falling out, I was sick all the time and I had no energy whatsoever, not to mention I was very unhappy!
Then along came being in a band and a bad relationship and I started drinking and eating to excess and the weight slowly crept back on, first 10 then 20 then 40 pounds. At 190 and losing everything due to a breakup, I had to pack up, quit a job and move to another state so I could get back on my feet.
Around that time is when I fell on my tailbone and hurt my back, causing my entire left thigh to essentially be numb from that day forward. This was late 2008.
Then I met my wonderful fiance four years ago in 2009 and we both started gaining weight together due to stressful times with the economy and other factors. I then ballooned to 250 lbs and had more health problems than someone my age ever should have.
In 2010 I was put on thyroid, blood pressure and iron for anemia. My cholesterol was through the roof and everywhere I went I sweat all the time. It was not only embarrasing (I work in the beauty industry) but uncomfortable as well.
Then the back pain began. Even the simplest act of folding the laundry would cause me pain due to any bending down. I started having to vaccum sitting in a chair for the same reason. And on and on.
So roughly a month ago I began this journey, It has not been easy but it has paid off so far. Already 17 lbs down there are major physical changes. My face is not so red or round anymore. I am now COLD all the time and have ceased daily use of my portable fan at work. There is feeling in my thigh again. My lower back pain is gone. My knee pain has lessened. I have more energy and my anti-anxiety meds work better. I also don't snore as much.
And let's not forget the looks aspect of things. I am down a pants size, my work uniform fits again and I have lost 2 inches in my measurements.
I also can get in and out of my car easier!
I could go on and on but suffice it to say, I think that I am off to a great start and look forward to sharing this journey as I continue on down the path to weight loss in 2013.
