Bonus aerobic work due to a bad Zumba class

Friday, February 01, 2013

NOw I appreciate beginners but after traveling half an hour in falling snow, I did not appreciate the substitute instructor for Zumba...I did NOT sweat, I was bored, and I was annoyed. Not with my regular instructor who was ill but by not being challenged.

Well, it inspired me to try the elliptical, a machine that I have avoided for at least 10 years. Surprisingly I kept up and enjoyed it! I also fit in a walking workout as well.

I am more determined to break my plateau and find a Zumba class for me to teach. I know that I am capable and don't need to wait to be in perfect shape to do a good job. Done letting the little voice in my head tell me that I am not good enough.

And that is my revelation for the day...have a great weekend!!! emoticon

Yes, mam... you are more than good enough, I don't know anyone who dances as much as you do, girl..

BTW, the hat I made turned out great. white with light blue and dark blue stripes, this makes about 6 or 7 now. You had the perfect pic of the mitt with the big thumb!!!! I can't believe how easy it is for some things to unravel, because even knowing full well how this was put together, I really had to go some to be able to take it apart...

Substitutes can be a problem - sorry it happened to you. Start teaching - I am sure you will be great.

I'm so with you with having the right instructor/music/choreography.
BR>There's 4 zumba instructors at our gym.
All four of them are fabulous dancers and fun to watch.

But I can't follow one of the four for the life of me... even making modifications...

So ya, it makes a big difference!

WooHoo, the class was NOT all bad. It got you to try something new and inspired you to be a Zumba instructor. Now that sounds like a good experience to me.

Too bad your class didn't work for you, but emoticon for finding a good workout on something new. If you feel you're ready to teach, you should go for it! I know you'd be great. emoticon

YES, this can be the time for you to take another step forward...go for it! Your success with the elliptical shows that you can do things that you couldn't before, definitely a sign of progress and proof of your hard work. And if we all waited until we were perfect before attempting to do something, nothing would ever get done. You are certainly able to be a successful and motivating instructor. Definitely make inquiries about getting your own class. (Do you have a playlist in progress or ready to go?) Wishing you the best!!! emoticon

Everything happens for a reason... if you hadn't of had a not so great Zumba session, you would still be avoiding the elliptical machine and wouldn't of discovered that you actually enjoyed it! Perspective is everything!

    Have an awesome day!!

It's hard to get into a workout with a new instructor when you're used to a certain style. You will make a great Zumba instructor. I gave up my ZIN membership and now just teach cardio dance at various senior centers. It's fun to encourage people to move their bodies in a new way. Have a great day! Keep dancing! emoticon

Having a substitute instruction happen to about 3 weeks ago. I feel your pain not liking how they taught Zumba. I had actually left the class after 30 minutes and that was a struggle to deal with. I'm a big fan of the emoticon . I hope your regular Zumba instructor will be back soon.
