running scared (literally!)

Tomorrow is to be a 20 mile run. 20 miles! Seriously. I tried 20 miles 2 weeks ago. Only made 17. Can I do 20 tomorrow? Remains to be seen.

I have kept to the training schedule religiously since then, with only one exception. On Thursday, I should have run 30-45 minutes. I did not. I had worked the homeless shelter overnite Wednesday night, and only got about 5 hours sleep Thursday morning. It was windy as hell, and the temps were dropping. I didn't want to run, and I didn't. I did hike for 4.5 miles (1.5 hours) that afternoon, though. Hope that was a good substitute.

Tomorrow is going to be cold. 40 is the scheduled high. At least I don't have to decide whether to wear the cold gear. And the wind should not be as bad as it has been...that's good. I'm still scared of the run tho. I know I can go 10, 15, even 17 miles. But 20?!?!? Damn...gotta find out tomorrow...

Wish me luck, send me prayers, think good houghts for me. I will report in, late tomorrow...

    Sending prayers - and keep placing one foot in front of the other. Relax and take it easy. Try not to think about approaching 20 miles, just look at making it to the next "marker" - such as light pole, sign, vehicle, etc. Wishing you the very best on your long run!! Go get em!!

    you've been training, you will be fine. learn what works to help you stay fueled for long runs - use your GU or whatever works, hydrate, pace yourself, believe, and when you pass the 20 mile mark, celebrate! Then you can set your new goal.
