Working towards my first 15k I have experienced a couple of different things and I was wondering if anyone else has had the same things happen. I'm up to 8.2 miles, really wanted to get to 9.3 tonight but didn't quite make it...1.1 mile left and I was a kickin myself but I know I'll get there.
First, after I've finished my run and I've stretched I get this sensation that my nerve endings are going off like fireworks. That's about the best way I can explain it. It doesn't hurt it's actually invigorating, I was just curious if it was normal.
Second, I have noticed that if I stop running or even walk for a bit that my calf muscles tighten up almost immediately. It's like they shrink up. I try stretching them out but it only helps a little. Not sure if it has to do with hydration but I drink approximately 80-112oz a day. I usually drink about 5 glasses during my run, I assume this isn't my issue.
Anyone have any advice or feedback that would be awesome!
