Disappointed, Discouraged(NOT!) and delighted

Friday, February 01, 2013

For the past four weeks I have been doing the "Jumpstart January" challenge and have stuck to the exercise videos, cardio at least 6 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes a session and have been in my calorie range 6 out of seven days for the last three weeks. emoticon

I was disappointed when I got on the scale this morning to find my weight has not budged emoticon but I am determined NOT to be discouraged by this.

I am delighted for many reasons:

emoticon I have kept to the program
emoticon I MAINTAINED my current weight
emoticon I have been eating nutritious foods and have stayed in my calorie range most all days
emoticon I have gotten back into a routine of strength training, and plan to keep it up.
emoticon I did 40 push ups this morning when 4 weeks ago I could hardly do 4 !!
emoticon I have been planning out my week of menus, writing a grocery list AND stick to the list at the grocery store. It takes a lot of time in the planning BUT saves money at the grocery store and time during the week in meal preparation.

emoticon I put my scale away since I plan to weigh in only once a month this year. It is just a number and there are so many other ways to measure success.

Happy Sparking !!
How do you measure success?

    Great attitude!
It sounds like you have gained a lot os muscle, maybe that is why the scales haven't changed.

Don't forget to measure to see if you are losing inches. You are doing lots of healthy things for yourself no matter what the scale says!

Great attitude, and you have been working your butt off exercising! It's hard to believe the scale didn't move though.

You are awesome! You are doing everything right and your body can feel the difference I am sure! You are an inspiration to me and I too have now been doing the January Challenge - although I had to restart it in the 4th week because I injured my back, leg and hip and had to drop out. But I am in the middle of week #3 and feel pretty good! Thanks for your blog, I won't give up either!

To me success (in the weight area) is how I adjust my day to reflect the number on the scale. In WW we had to weight once a week because that was how they charged for the program, how they ran their business. In maintenance I weigh daily, and adjust according to what I see on the scale. No angst, just Good Orderly Direction (GOD). Success is how well I take that direction without freighting it with more than it is: it isn't a judgement, just a waypoint.
