Why I focus on the NSVs

Friday, February 01, 2013

So many times when we are trying to loose weight we focus just on the number on the scale. In reality that is only ONE of the millions of other victories there are to win.

Acknowledging those other victories is makes the journey mean so much more. Makes it even more rewarding. emoticon

Plus- when you are doing all this good stuff and the scale doesn't move it gets frustrating and depressing. Focusing on the other things in life that are better because of getting healthier keeps you going and emoticon

Thanks Giminie for commenting on my last blog and saying you didn't know what NSV stood for. I had to ask the save thing when I first started.
I think I should start writing down my NSV and number them. Maybe you should too!
What is your latest NSV?

    I love this blog!

My NSV yesterday, was that I was able to look in the mirror and smile because I knew that I was going to get this weight off.

I was also able to get my belt on another notch!

I was so excited about it, I started jumping up and down!

It's the little things that get us through those weeks when the pounds don't come off as easily as others!!

Guess my latest NSV, the biggie was the drop in blood pressure. I can also wear a few more items in my closet again.
Thanks for the idea.

I LOVE celebrating NSV's! Congratulations on yours and for seeing the value of them. Its so easy to get caught up in the number on the scale, but NSV's mean so much more to me.

Yesterday when I was getting ready to go out, I was getting dressed and when I pulled my jeans on I was amazed by how easily they slid on, and when I buttoned them they were just a tiny bit loose in the waist. Hubby said they are really loose in the seat! I think I need to go jeans shopping soon! Until I get to goal, I don't like to spend money on clothes but I think I deserve at least one pair of jeans that fit!

I think I rely on the scale an awful lot, but my NSVs are NSFs...non scale failures! I fail to notice any good thing that might be happenning with my good eating and exercise habits. But I do know that I can do more and longer elliptical time and don`t get sore and tired when playing Wii sports with my 8 year younger than me hubby. Other than that,I don`t know of anything.

I stared at this for a few minutes before getting non-scale victory from the context! haha... score one. I love those little victories... like being happy with meeting your goals for a whole month or going down a few cms. :)
