I pikcked up my Graandboy and Grandgirl at daycare this afternoon and took them to get my Grandboy a haircut. He did really well and reminded my friend who cuts his hair not to "do" his ears. He is very sensitive to noises; so, she puts cotton in his ears and uses a comb to keep the clippers from his ears. She is so good with him.
After tha haircut we came to my house and Keegan immediately went to the living room, cot the recorded "Night Before Christmas", sat on the sofa across from a picture of his "Pops" and played the story read in my voice and looked at his"Pops' ss photo. He stayed there for at least half an hour. Maeryn and I went in to be with him and had a pretend "tea party" with the little tea set she got for Christmas. Then we watched some dvd's.
Everything was good until my daughter, their mother, came in. Both kids started yelling and Keegan started that he didn't want to go home to eat, he wanted to go out. When his mother said no the acting out started. Maeryn refused to pick up toys, which she was doing before her mother got here, and it was a sad time.
When they left my daughter refused to take the cupcakes my friend had given to the kids and now they sit downstairs and the kids are gone. I am sad and angry with my daughter but she doesn't take kindly to suggestions as to dealing with the kids. Of course she was also on her phone texting someone at work because she had forgotten something important, left tickets to a show for the kids on the printer. Her inattention to the children didn;t help.
My insides were in turmoil, I am sad and angry and did something that was a really bad choice. I took a coupln that came in the mail today and went to McDonalds. I have had one McDonalds in the past year, until tonight. I am glad, though, that it is out of my system and tomorrow I can do much better.
Well, I will try to do better. Tonight and tomorrow is a big weekend for Parrotheads and Alzheimer's Association. Tomorrow is the Beach Ball for Alzheimer's and tonight is the pre-party. This will be the first Beach Ball weekend that we, now I, have missed in years. We have worked on the Ball and Ed co-chaired it once and I chaired a committee twice. Ed also acted as an auctioneer at the Friday pre-party and helped with the live auction at the beach Ball on Saturdays. We also went to the Polar Plunge on Saturday mornings. This will be the first time to miss the Beach Ball and pre-party. I was invited to attend as a guest of the Parrothead Club but declined as it would just be way too emotional to be there. Being there would be a much more difficult "first".
