When books get in the way!

I like to read....ALOT. I read pretty much every night. I will read anything. There are very few books I've put down and been like nope can't read one more word of that crap. There are many that I've literally stayed up waaaaaaay past my bedtime to read just one more chapters ( aka finish the book). This is a problem when it interferes with my workouts. I guess I should start off by saying, I started reading the Harry Potter books. I've held off on reading these because they just didn't seem like something I would like. I was dead wrong. I've only finished the first, but now every spare second I have is trying to fit one chapter in of the second. On Wednesday I was totally going to workout during The American. That's a negative. Instead I read during the commercials. Parts of me always hopes I hurry up and finish books like these so I can return t o a normal life. But than another part of my never wants it to end. And ridiculous as it sounds the only reason I started reading HP was because I want to read Casual Vacancy and I felt like it was cheating somehow if I didn't read at least one HP book. Maybe I need to learn how to read and jog at the same time! You should have seen the havoc Hunger Games did to me. So I guess one book down 6 more to go!

    me too, I love to read, but I must confess I have never started the Harry Potter series, and I must do that, next book on my kindle
    Hunger Games was so great, I must confess I am reading some not so good, but I got them so will finish them,
    I walk on my treadmill and read, if I can get my light right, this is not such a bad thing, I know much more trivial things than my non-reading husband emoticon

    Hunger games and Harry Potter series got me too. Luckily I have a tablet and can read while I'm on the recumbent bike. It doesn't work well with weight lifting though. I wouldn't even call myself a big reader, but some suck me in to the point that I do the same things you do :)

    Love books more than anything else! Love getting lost in them! The Harry Potter series is wonderful; one of these days I will go back and read it again! I downloaded her new one but have yet to read it - like you, I have so many and not enough hours in the day!!

    I love to read too and it's a great feeling when you're into a book that you just can't put down! I read the first 3 or 4 Harry Potter books when they first came out but then lost interest. I have Casual Vacancy on my ipad, you just reminded me that I should read it!

    I totally understand! The book I am reading right now has REALLY short chapters, just a few pages, and each chapter ALWAYS ends in a cliff hanger so I always tell myself I can read 1 more quick chapter... 5 chapters later and it's past my bed time!!

    Maybe reading needs to be a reward?? Workout 10 minutes, read 10 minutes? :)

    I am the same way. This is why DH finally broke down and got me a kindle. I kept bugging him about it over and over how much exercise I could accomplish if I just could read and walk at the same time by increasing the font really really big! I find that walking or the stair stepper has been the best equipment to exercise & read at the same time.

    I love to read as well but to make sure I stay on track I'm listening to audio books. The HP series is fantastic to listen to and you do feel like you have traveled to a different world.

    emoticon I am very much the same way. I really like sci-fi and romance best. I can very much connect with the staying up late to finish one more chapter that becomes to the end of the book. emoticon I have decided that if I work out for an hour then I can read for a little while before heading to bed.
