February 2013 Goals

These are my goals for this month:

1. Lose 5 pounds
-to accomplish this I am going to work on being consistent with tracking my food
-drinking my 8 glasses of water every day
-eating at least 5 fruit/veggies every day

2. Exercise regularly
-to go the pool 3 x week (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) & exercise for at least 30 mins
-started the month off by getting myself up @ 6:30 and having a balanced breakfast before going to the pool. Motivating myself to exercise is difficult for me, but I have joined a challenge team on the Aspire & Inspire Spark Team and will be using this to help keep me motivated and accountable.

3. Read through the Bible in a year emoticon
-follow my reading schedule and keep track
-finish off book of Job, then Exodus, and Leviticus by the end of the month

4. Phase 2 of my Contentment project -focus on my relationship with God
-continue with reading thru Bible (as above)
-Study of Proverbs – set aside regular times for personal study (3 times/week for 45mins)
-set aside daily time for prayer & meditation (morning & evening for at least 15 mins)

5. Complete my mystery afghan & crochet scarf
-my afghan is approximately half sewn together and the border to do, so I anticipate it being completed by the end of next week (February 8th)
-post a photo of my completed afghan
-complete by the end of the month the pink crochet scarf I started in November
-if I work on them in the evenings while watching TV I should have them completed on time.

    These sounds like great goals and you've got the means to achieving them defined, too. Good for you in setting everything out so clearly!

    That's a great set of goals to achieve this month! It looks like you really took the time to think through the goals you'd like to achieve. They seem to be attainable yet able to push you out of your comfort zone. Good luck! emoticon emoticon

    I like your balanced approach, and that you are pursuing progress, not perfection.

It might be worth looking into why it's hard to motivate yourself to exercise. As you let yourself talk (or journal), what do the different parts of your personality have to say? Where does the fear or resistance come from? Is there a way to address concerns, or compromise with different parts to get some agreements to try certain activities?

I have found that looking into the mental blocks and working with different aspects of the personality or different beliefs and attitudes can end up having a tremendous effect on motivation and the ability to succeed.

    Way to go Jineane!!! You are doing soo good! With all that exercise and healthy foods, you'll be exactly where you want to be in no time!!! I also read the Bible through in about a years time. As a part of my reading, I read 1 chapter in Proverbs every day as it has 31 chapters in it. Lots of good advice to live by.

    Fantastic goals, Jineane! I especially admire your dedication to reading through the Bible this year. Are you following a particular guide for that? I have never read through the entire Bible and you are inspiring me to set some goals in that direction.
