The big storm

Friday, February 01, 2013

We had an eventful week after the big storm created by ex tropical cyclone Oswald, but not as bad as Bundaberg and Rockhampton. We live high on the hills in the Gold Coast hinterland and we had no damage, but we lost power, cells and landline for 38hs.
We had a genertor and gas ring but it got very worrying. Not even close to the
poor people that got flooded, but bad enough for my anxiety. There a lot of people still with no power or phones.
All is well now, but we had another storm last night and the fear of losing power reappeared.
I'm only a month away from my trip to Buenos Aires to see my family, and I'm already getting nightmares about the flight and being there. Trying desperately to live in the present and using mindfulness. Increased my antidep to a medium dose not full, i need all the help i can get.

Many thanks to all the wonderful people that left encouraging messages in my last blog. Will start tracking again today.
Claudia

    Hi Claudia,
I hope everything has been restored now, and that you are able to manage your anxiety about the coming trip. Sometimes we just need to make use of medication so I think that is a good idea.
Take care and all the best for the trip if we don't hear from you before you head off.
Hugs and blessings, Nattacia

Sorry to hear you lost power. I was one of the
lucky ones. Sunday night was pretty scary. My
friend one street over had no power for 2 days.
I'm glad taht we are seeing the sun shine again.
We take so many things for granted. Just try
to relax and as Susie says, think of catching up
with your family and the fun you will have.

Hi Claudia . So sorry you had problems with essential services ..
Isn't it amazing how much we rely on them?
You did right to increase your meds .. you need to stay calm ..
Think of the lovely time you will have with your family very soon ..

Whew--glad you survived that storm without serious harm to you or the kitties! The crazy weather that is becoming so common IS cause for concern, both in the moment & as we look at the larger picture. Calling for radical policy/energy changes in order to avert worse climate change is one of the most important things we can do, I think.

Here's to peace & safety & tranquillity as you prepare for the BA trip next month. emoticon
