January 2013 Recap

I started the new year with an enthusiasm I haven't felt in months. It resulted in a 7 pounds weight loss, which absolutely thrills me! We've had some crazy weather. Bitter cold one day, 60s the next. My running took a back seat while I recovered from an injury. I now have the ok to resume and I'm doing so slowly.
I've gotten back in to yoga and ST, which were both seriously lacking from my schedule. It's always refreshing to see how quickly my body responds to both. I need to remember that the next time I decide to put them on the back burner.
I have set some lofty goals for this year and I am revisiting them weekly. So far I am ahead of schedule, which is very satsifying. I just need to keep the momentum and the motivation. I have been getting my pride involved big time, which always helps me reach my goals. Make them public, ask for the occasional kick in the butt and talk about successes and failures.
I am 2 weeks in to our current BLC challenge. I set a 10 pound goal for the 12 weeks and I'm over halfway there after only two weeks. My current goal is to reach that 10 pounds in the next 2-3 weeks and then set an new goal for the remainder of the round.
My secret to success?
#1: Accountability to others
#2: Personal pride
#3: Religiously recording and tracking my CICO
Yes, there are other things as well but this has been my main focus and it's paying off in spades.
February will include a week in FL visiting family. That's always tough on my CICO but I'm already planning on how to deal with things. I don't expect to lose while I'm away but I am working hard to get ahead of the game plan now and my goal will be to stay active enough to maintain while I'm away.
My race calendar includes one 4 miler in February and I will be starting my official Marathon Training Plan mid month. It will be nice to be able to run in the FL temps for a week. Should give me a very nice start to my training.
I'm looking forward to having an equally successful February. I'll be back the first of March with my report.
