Brewer's Yeast and Garlic exctract for dogs...anyone heard of this?

Long story short, giant dog, many fleas, Advantage not working. I was told by someone that you can give them a little Brewer's Yeast and/or Garlic extract, and it naturally repels the fleas. Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Or waste of $9 in supplements?

    Brewer's Yeast can help repel fleas...you can also find some alternative flea spray recipes that use natural ingredients that most people have in their home on the internet

    I always preferred to use Frontline instead of Advantage. I had better results.

When my dog would get fleas really bad I would give her a bath with flea shampoo then wait 48 hours and then apply the Frontline.

I also put a little flea shampoo in a spray bottle with some water and misted my carpet and the areas my dog liked to hang out in.

    Bill--More of the same that I've already read...some for, some against. I was hoping that a fellow sparkie had actually tried it and could give me the scoop. I think I'm going to try it anyway and see what happens...it's only $9...

    UGGGGH! I feel your pain. Our cats had fleas FOREVER... I don't know how to get rid of it in dogs, but what helped us was INSANE amounts of cleaning and some sprays that you spray over EVERYTHING. and lots of vacuuming. Good luck!

    I have heard this and we used to put garlic in with our dogs' food but they turned their noses up at it for the most part. They are bigger dogs too. One of my dogs has an allergy to flea bites so we were given a different flea med (I don't remember the name). Is the Advantage you are using the right dose for your big dog?
