Day 5 - Anti-Inflammatory Diet

Wow Day 5 and I have survived, wow after the first day I was ready to throw in the towel lol!! Hubby convinced me to try another day. Day 2 I knew my body was in detox as I have done many cleanses before, and I recognized the symptoms. Day 2 was the worst, coming off of coffee, sugars and cheese, wow quite the big step, I was not a nice person to be around that day, plus all the pain in my upper back and shoulders and neck. By evening as I lay in bed in excruciating pain, I thought why???? Why do this? To what purpose? Would anyone notice if I was not around? Thoughts from the past, left me disturbed and upset!! But in a sense maybe it was some sort of deep down healing.
Day 3, my headache was not so bad, so tried some tea, peach and ginger, no I do not like tea, I have been a coffee drinker since I was two, but I decided what the heck, yuck, I did not like it. Tea I can do without!!! After the castor oil pak and I had my shower I did feel a bit better and managed to do 10minute on my elliptical and even a little bit of walk it out. In the afternoon Wayne baked some weird scones, but I enjoyed them and they sort of gave me a boost.
Day 4 yesterday was an amazing day, porridge for breakfast, 15 minutes on the elliptical, I did a little cleaning, then we went to town and bought our windows for the house and the patio door, the door was very expensive but we decided to go for a door designed for lakefront and heavy traffic, when we came home, I rested a little did some sparking, then prepared supper.
Supper I was creative, we had baked sweet potatoes with a la king, and peas on the side, in the ala king, there was onion, garlic, mushrooms and yellow pepper, grd thyme and paprika, with unsweetened original almond milk and nutritional yeast flakes, oh and black beans, boy was it yummy, even Wayne enjoyed it.
This is going to be a challenge as I am now very limited in what I can eat, but if I can be creative, I can make this fun, I have ordered 2 books from amazon, that are g.f and vegan and sugar free, so that will help, I do have lots of cookbooks already, but not many are gf, and those that are uses eggs etc, and as eggs are now out, I need a recipe book that does not use eggs.
Today I am on day 5, I have no headache, I still have the excruciating pain at night, but it eases as the day goes on, until I lie down then its back with a vengeance, so yes I am tired but it will get better. Wayne checked my sores after my shower today, and they are amazing, so much healing in such a little time, they are no longer red raw, burning or itchy, the sores are almost half the size and are lighter in appearance and some have healthy pink skin showing through.
I feel good this morning and have already had breakfast, yoghurt, pineapple and granola. I miss my coffee, and at the moment I only drink water in the morning.
I know I have a long long long way to go, but I have started, and that is a start, as I adapt to this new eating plan, it will get easier, and the health benefits will start to show. For the meantime I just have to be patient and understand this is a slow process.
The caster Oil pak is a flannel cloth saturated in caster oil, every morning it is heated and placed on my shoulder, over the top plastic is placed and then a heating pad for 20 minutes. This is to improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. I think that this is also helping me, as I said the pain is less in my middle back and good shoulder through the day, but worst at night. My naturopath feels this might be transference pain from my injured shoulder, again this is a slow process, but I will grin and bare it.
I have a long way to go but I have made a good start.

    Could you use the castor oil pack at night too? Maybe twice a day would be more beneficial. Each day is sounding better and better.

    Wishing you well on your new meal plans. I also use the almond unsweetened 40 calorie "milk" or milk substitute. I have cut down on carbs very little over the last 2 weeks. emoticon emoticon

    Anjay you amaze me.... I haven't a clue what to eat especially if eggs bother me and here you are figuring stuff out. Granted as you said Wayne will try. Murray wouldn't eat what you made and truth be told not sure I would have either lol am not a bean lover at all esp. if they are cold.
I am glad that your sores are getting better. I wonder if the castor oil packs would help my back if they are for inflamation. Where did you get the stuff to make them?

Really pleased that things are coming along. Do let me know what you are making etc. Lisa bought a vegan cookbook the day i got my clean eating one. I will have to see what is in it.
Take care have someone with a wet nose wanting to go for her last walk of the night.

    Try peppermint tea. It is sweeter tasting than some of the other teas. :)

    Sounds like things are starting to move in a positive way. Try a slice of lemon in hot water. It's pretty good.
