Moving Fast Up In Here!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Now *I* may not be moving fast AT ALL these days, but thankfully the medical process is for a change!! So yesterday morning I had my Ortho appointment and got a referral for MRI. They also asked me to schedule a follow-up for 1-2 weeks. Well, I told the gal at the appointment desk to go closer to two because I had a feeling it would take that long to get through the referral, appointment, and results process. Well, to my surprise, not so much!!

I got a call yesterday afternoon that the referral for the MRI was ready! Shock #1. Then I called this morning to make the appointment for the MRI and they actually asked if I could come in TODAY - Shock #2. I had to tell them I couldn't do it today because of work obligations but then they could still get me in TOMORROW which is perfect because I get off early on Friday so I don't even have to take time off - Shock #3. THEN (yeah, there's still more!) I took a chance and called the Ortho folks to see if they could move my appointment up since everything was moving so quickly and they actually could - Shock #4!!! They could fit me in next Thursday, so a full 6 days sooner than I was originally scheduled for. And they also said to give them a call on Monday morning just in case they have an earlier opening - Shock #4.5 (not a full shock, but still a small shock nonetheless).

So I have to say that I am somewhat hopeful at this point that at the very least I will know the full extent of the damage soon and then can chart a course for recovery, whatever that might be.

On a kind of side note, I think I strained or pulled my hamstring (on the "bad" leg) this morning in addition to everything else. :-/ Yeah, getting up from the friggin TOILET of all things. It was so simple, just standing up...you do it a million times but this time some kind of horrible pain shot down my entire leg and now it's a little more sore than usual (as if I thought that would be possible)! Yikes. The fun never ends...LOL

On the eating front of things, I'm keeping a little more in check today, but I know that my defenses are down to minimum levels. If I was a castle, the enemy would barely even have to push a twig to make the entire gate fall! I'm in pain, I'm tired, I'm stressed, AND I'm PMS-ing. Not a good combination at all...but I'm trying. Lord help me, I'm trying!

I'm so glad that things are proceeding quickly. Hopefully you will figure out some answers soon. Hang in there on the eating. New eating month starts tomorrow!

Hang in there - you can only do what you can only do and you are SEEING progress at least on the medical front. This too will pass. I think most of my injuries in the past - especially leg and back - have been doing something simple, routine and not even "heavy" movements. I have been SITTING and twisted my knee, held my hands over my head for a second and sprained my back, and the list goes on. I am always saying, "Of all the stupid ways to get hurt, this takes the cake" If only they WOULD really take the cake and remove it from my SIGHT. LOL You take care and I hope you get some answers and some relief SOON.
