I want to talk about balance today. Balance can mean "keeping your balance" aka don't fall over or "balance in your life". Both are important to me.
Let's look at "keeping your balance". I'm told that balance is one of those things that can disappear on you while you're looking the other way as you become "more seasoned". In my case, balance has never been a strong suit.
I can remember as a kid in gym trying to walk on a balance beam no higher than 5 inches off the ground! Nope, I got no where there. I have a reputation as someone who falls down more than her share of the time. I KNOW I need help here and that's why I try to incorporate some yoga into my life. I want to fight my natural tendency to fall over! So as I'm standing on one leg, brushing my teeth every day I can tell....I've gotta keep working on this!
Then there's balance in everything you do. I'm just like so many others - I tend to hard charge after something sacrificing balance in my life without a thought. And because of the importance of my quest for health to me I have to always remind myself - seek a balance. I know I won't lose weight without it. Trying to win this battle through diet choices alone? Nope, doesn't work. Through exercise alone? You can become a stronger tubby. You need a balance of the two. That doesn't mean 50-50 effort. What I'm talking about is including both in your plans. I believe that food intake and portion control is the most important part of what I'm doing right now. The physical activity is the part that pushes me from no loss/no gain into the weight loss category. I'd say it's a 85-15 split (15 is activity) to make this work for me.
Balance is key!

So I'm wishing you a healthy balance this week! Let's finish strong!
