The process of gradual or unconscious assimilation of ideas, knowledge, etc.
Have you ever been around someone that is mad all the time? Happy all the time? Have you ever caught yourself picking up on their emotions and then you are suddenly feeling the same way? Have you ever noticed that when you go out to dinner with a certain group of friends, you are at the buffet like a bear getting ready for winter? Or if you are with a different group, you have the presence of mind to eat sensibly?
There are a couple of blogs that I actually stopped following because the writer would berate themselves to the point that being physically beaten would seem a vacation and if you try to point this out to them, they feel attacked....all this over gaining a few ounces. And by ounces, that's what I mean OUNCES. Or they ate a slice of cake...or the whole thing, or whatever tragedy they have become mired in.
There is ALWAYS a way out, with knowledge, support, and hard work, there is a way.
Granted, not all of my blogs are sunshine and roses...they are mostly things that I have a need to get out of my system, but I do try hard to keep a realistic expectation of my body and my mind.
I don't expect my body to drop a hundred pounds in a couple of months any more than I expect it to weigh the same thing to the ounce day after day. I expect that to happen as much as I expect Doctor Who to come by in the morning and give me a ride to work in the TARDIS! (...ok, I am HOPING for that last, but don't really expect it!)
Is it ok to be frustrated when things don't go the way that YOU think they should go? Sure it's ok! Be upset or mad or frustrated, and then MAKE A NEW PLAN! As long as you are trying...you are making progress!!!!
I have noticed that when I spend a lot of time with negative people, I feel negative about everything. I will try to support and will empathize to a certain extent, but there comes a point that you just have to wonder if they are just refusing to see truth.
Now, that being said...the reverse is also true. Being around happy and supportive people makes me feel good, it gives me hope. Left to my own devices, I am generally a happy person. I love the way my body heals itself, I love nature, science, and learning new things. I love seeing the way that the little things I do make changes to myself and others around me...I love life.
Ask yourself....what do you want others to osmote from YOU?
Show others just how amazing you are!
