Frittering or Living

Thursday, January 31, 2013

I've come to the conclusion that life will always be busy. It's up to each of us to manage our time and choices so that we are fulfilled and don't just "fritter" our life away. A couple of days ago I was struck by the realization that most of my adult life has been spent "frittering." It made me really sad. For those of you who are still young, don't be me. For those of you who, like me, are passing into another stage of life, don't let your age be an excuse or a barrier.

Do what you love and what fulfills you.

And if you have to get healthy to be able to do what you love and what fulfills you, then you have a starting point and a goal. The days will pass, numbered and irretrievable.

Our time in this world, in our earthly bodies is limited. Each of us has a purpose and the ability to fulfill that purpose. I want to wake each morning with excitement at what my day may bring, not dread over the things I cannot control.

Please join me as we seek our passion and fulfillment!

Great blog! I heard someone say once that if you are living your life just trying to get through the work week and reach the weekend, you are missing out on 5/7 of your life. Which is so true, but that's how I live most of the time! Always good to have a reminder that we need to stop and enjoy life, and not get caught up in stressing over things!

What a timely post! I was trying to get out of the gloomies yesterday when I realized that I was letting life happen to me (except for the whole SP experience) and I need to change that. Frittering is a very good word for it! Such a wonderful, thought-provoking subject and well-worth exploring.
THANKS!

I totally get the frittering. So much of our life IS spent in the stupid frittering tasks of life..I have recently moved from a three bedroom house, to a condo and I am LOVING it..because of the fact that I can now spend less time frittering/puttering/cleaning and more time out DOING stuff. I have also moved cities--so now my view is a cool, downtown area and not a wasteland of scenery ( while nice...does not invigorate ) It is so easy to slide back into nothingness though--and fill our time with stuff we THINK is important..but really isnt. It takes energy to get out and DO..and sometimes its just easier to NOT do it.
However, I have found over and over again that once I am OUT its pretty great--its just hard to get out..
you are doing great.

God has promised not to bring us home until we have fulfilled our mission on earth. Each day is a precious gift. Let us celebrate it and rejoice in it.
