Inviting Jesus to Sup With Me!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Great Bible Study yesterday where we looked at the conditions of our physical homes and our spiritual lives. Ended with us taking a look at an outline of our homes.....Our Office (finances, education, computer use), Our Bedroom (intimate relationships), our Living Room (the image others see), Our Kitchen (our appetites, desires).

Then, a very different look at Rev 3:20. As Jesus stands at the door and knocks we were to ask ourselves if we'd throw the door open in welcome, or ignore Him because we'd be too ashamed for Him to enter. Would we have to clean off a seat for Him to sit or spray a little Febreze? Would we sit in full view of the sink full of dishes. What would we do if he needed to use the bathroom?

My place isn't dirty.......but it is cluttered. Those project piles that I'll eventually get to. That thing I tossed on the spare bed that I haven't gotten around to putting away yet. If Jesus were to spend the night, which spare room would I feel comfortable putting Him in?

So, I decided, I need to get my house in order so that I can invite Jesus to come and sup with me!

Love it, Shannon!! Maybe as I walk through my house, I can keep asking myself, "If JC was here, what would he think?" LOL Or worse...... Father Barry! (Our parish priest!) And I only say "worse" cause he's still human and would totally be like, "Is that cat hair on that chair?" LOL

Hmmmmm.....Sweetie, I think that if you open your door and find Jesus standing there you are going to invite Him in and serve Him whatever you are having for dinner and clear a spot for Him and REJOICE. On the other hand; if the preacher were to knock on the door, you might want to have things tidy. Hope you are smiling....

Baby steps sweetie. One step at a time. One day at a time. I have something that I do that is a HUGE help. If I see something - anything that needs done; I try to take time and stop and do it right then. You would be AMAZED at how it helps things stay spit spot. Bring the mail in and handle it once. See something out of place; right it. Don't put something on the guest bed until later. My family hates that something has to REALLY be amiss for me to go to bed with dishes in the sink because what if I die in the night and they had to call my Mama (who, by the way, I've not seen in 12 years)?!* Bottom line is this...BE HAPPY and take care of YOU and the rest is just STUFF.

Love you and miss you girl! I know you are only one team away but it seems that one BIG - make that GREAT dog more and I just can't seem to keep up. I apologize for not being more present!
