Great Bible Study yesterday where we looked at the conditions of our physical homes and our spiritual lives. Ended with us taking a look at an outline of our homes.....Our Office (finances, education, computer use), Our Bedroom (intimate relationships), our Living Room (the image others see), Our Kitchen (our appetites, desires).
Then, a very different look at Rev 3:20. As Jesus stands at the door and knocks we were to ask ourselves if we'd throw the door open in welcome, or ignore Him because we'd be too ashamed for Him to enter. Would we have to clean off a seat for Him to sit or spray a little Febreze? Would we sit in full view of the sink full of dishes. What would we do if he needed to use the bathroom?
My place isn't dirty.......but it is cluttered. Those project piles that I'll eventually get to. That thing I tossed on the spare bed that I haven't gotten around to putting away yet. If Jesus were to spend the night, which spare room would I feel comfortable putting Him in?
So, I decided, I need to get my house in order so that I can invite Jesus to come and sup with me!
