I usually end up resting on Thurs, but today I decided to get up and do weights. I'm coming down with a cold - not surprising, with all the stress lately - but I'm hoping that if I keep up the exercise I can keep it from becoming anything worse. And yes, I did get my flu shot! Every year. :-)
So, my mom is not happy about the rehab facility - would rather still be at the hospital - but my dad said she ate a decent lunch and dinner (though it sounds like he had to push her a bit to get her to do that). Physical therapy got her on her feet, but she wasn't comfortable enough to try walking with the parallel bars. I guess they officially do evaluations on Tuesdays, so my dad doesn't think they'll even bother evaluating her till then, since she clearly needs a lot of work. So she's likely to be there a while, which is good in that they will make her do the work and it'll give my dad a break. And maybe it'll help make her see what we've all been saying, that they need to get into assisted living.
My brother is going to try to get down there this weekend - he lives in Seattle but is in Reno for work, so hopefully he can rearrange his travel without too much expense and drive/fly down to the Bay Area and then home from there. If he can't, I'll probably have to go down again, I feel like one of us should go check in and give my dad some support. But I'm hoping Mike can do it so I can rest up this weekend.
After I talked to them when I got home from work last night, I decided I really needed to just turn it off, so I had a big glass of wine with dinner, relaxed, and slept super hard. Really needed it!
Anyhow, today at lunchtime I'm heading over to Kate's school for a couple hours to help out with Science Day - I've done it the past couple years and it's REALLY fun. Lawrence Hall of Science comes and sets up lots of different activities in the multipurpose room and us parents run the stations - each grade gets an hour to come in and check everything out. So I'm looking forward to that.
Well, better get back to work!
