Big treat tonight, I get to meet Astronaut Jerry Ross.
I'm a volunteer at the Intrepid Museum. They know I'm a big fan of Sci-Fi & supporter of space exploration. Tonight there is a book signing for his new book. He has the most space time of astronauts so far. Can't wait to hear this talk.
My experiences at the Intrepid have been over the top. They are so nice - staff, volunteers, etc. The most enjoyable of all my volunteer work.
BUT - I not only got to see the Enterprise Orbiter. We volunteers were able to go inside with a NASA technician for a private tour. Then there was the Space Fest which ran for a few days when the Enterprise Pavilion opened. 10 astronauts were there, scientists, representatives of all the NASA support groups. I got a pictures of the latest Mars Rover signed by the lead scientist & one of the astronauts for my friends grandson. Great activities & displays. There was a simulated space trip. WOW. Think 'Contact' were Jodi Fosters character was going thru space, passing galaxies etc.
Stay tuned. Sandy destroyed the Enterprise pavilion, but it is being rebuilt. & there may be another Space Fest when it reopens.
