My 30 Day Juice Fast is Complete!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

My 30 day juice fast has come to an end. I feel fantastic! i won't lie and say it was all easy, but it was a lot more enjoyable than one might think. I believe I have probably taken in more fruits and veggies in the last month than I have in several years combined. Sad, but true.

Let me share some numbers with you.

I lost a little over 32 pounds this month.
1/1 sw: 239.2
1/31 206.8

I also did measurements. I won't bore you with each individual part of my body, but I lost a total of 16 inches from my body.

My starting BMI was 38.6
Current BMI is 33.2

My clothing is loose or just doesn't fit. A good problem to have.

Some other changes besides weight loss:

I no long have problems sleeping at night.

I never used to dream (or at least remember them), I dream now and they are great dream.

My cravings have diminished and in some cases disappeared.

I feel confident that I can control my intake of food for the first time in many years.

I have not acne at all right now

I have broken my diet coke habit.

I suffer from "dizzy" spells. Before the fast I would have them at least once or twice a week. I had one spell during this fast.

My dry skin is gone.

I haven't suffered from indigestion, heart burn, or gas.

I have heart palpatations (that I have had checked out and been told they are not harmful, however they are very scary). I have not had it once during this fast.

Although my family has had colds and the flu is rampant at school. I have been healthy (even without the flu shot)

I get up a lot easier in the mornings and seem to have more energy through out the day.

My moods seem more stable.

I haven't drank alcohol in 30 days, something I was becoming quite used to having a drink almost nightly.

I have proved to myself that I have will power.

I didn't cave when I had emotional moments that normally would have led to binging.

I feel better about myself.

I could probably go on more, but wont.
Overall this has been a very positive experience and I am already planning a shorter fast next weekend with my husband. I will be moving to a whole foods, mostly vegan and oil free diet at this point. I will start slow with fresh fruits and veggies today and have some wonderful salads planned for the next couple of days.

I want to thank all of you who have followed my fast and offered your support through out. It was very helpful to know you were rooting me on. Those of you who have been reading probably know what I am drinking right now. :)

Way to go on your success! I love all the benefits you listed. What a great way to start the year. I sure enjoyed your recipes and hearing how you felt during the fast. I'm hoping you'll post the foods you start eating now too. Would love to see what salads you make.

You inspired me to start a short juice fast. I'm on day 3.

Anyway, you should be so proud of yourself! Congrats and spark on!!!!
