An article about Willpower

This quote comes from an article, by Hillari Dowdle that I found in Yoga Journal, Feb., 2013 called: "Boost Your Willpower:"

"Step 1 Know What You Want"

"...If you want to lose weight, for example, is it really about squeezing into those skinny jeans? ...can you approach it as an opportunity to create a body that enables you to experience life with vitality and ease? Can you make it an act of love toward yourself? ...Formulate your "I want" statement within the context of your spiritual, as well as physical, life--something like "I want to be happy and healthy in my body so that I can live life fully" and write it down. Know that you can make this your reality because your highest, wisest Self has your back."

The article continues with a statement by Richard Miller, a fellow psychologist and yoga teacher in San Rafael, California: "That, Miller says, is when you can really begin to see real and lasting change. "The point where my willpower and the will of the universe meet is where real power to change resides," he says. In other words, when you align your own intentions with those of the Divine dwelling within you, as you, anything is possible."

    Good health through proper eating is my true goal. Didn't realize it until I read what you just wrote. Thought it was to get rid of the love handles. Haha. Good article to make you think. Thank you.

    Sometimes learning to love ourselves is challenging. I like the permission and encouragement to learn to love my Self. It's OK to want things for my Self, and to work toward those goals. I want to be healthy and active mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Losing 20 pounds will help move me toward that goal. Yoga will help move me toward that goal. Eating healthy foods and drinking water will help me toward that goal. Adequate rest will help, time to refresh and practice spiritually will help. Exercising will help me toward that goal....it's not just the weight loss that will help me be healthy and active. It's my intent to be there.
