should i give up on blc after this round

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Tonight I got a spark mail from the admins of it saying they planned to put me on medical floater status. Well this may be the straw that breaks my back. I am considering quitting or throwing in the towel. This don't sit well with me. Not using my weight is all well and good but if I don't feel a part anymore maybe it is time to leave.

I don't know what the letter from ADMIN said but I do know ADMIN and the BLC and to be placed on that status was to protect you not to alienate you. They have rules in place and with 1,000 or so people in the BLC and a waiting list they must abide by them but they move heaven and earth to help people in any way they can. It is a HUGE challenge. By having 20+ teams with different profiles/personalities they enable MANY to accomplish the MAX in different ways. Baby steps. One day at a time. Participation and not perfection is one of the basic precepts of the BLC.

As Kim says above (SweetMNThing) many have tried to go it on their own and while some can, I think I can say that MOST that I've seen try, come back to the challenge - or some challenge - because as *I* most often say TOGETHER we CAN!

I've been in your shoes in wanting to quit before. I would encourage you to stick it out. If you don't feel like you are a part of things, maybe you could try changing teams next round, and just try to make the best of what's left of this round. I know for myself left out on my own without the support of a blc team is the worst thing I could do for myself. At least having a team to support me helps, then I keep trying even when I'm battling issues to the best of my ability at the time. Maybe it's less than what other challengers are doing, but each journey is unique. . I know different teams have different personalities, sometimes it's also a matter of finding the right fit. And by sticking it out you might might just be able to conquer that mountain with the help of us on Spark and inspire others that are facing similar issues.

I know how you feel i have alot of issues with my conditions i can't do what others can on the team but i can do what i can do, even if its only 10 minutes for an LCW. Maybe you could sit out and drop by the chat thread now and then so you still get support and courage that you need. Hope what ever you decide you do what is best for you.

There are plenty of other groups.... As my brother would say, "Don't let the turkeys get you down!"

I have not tried a BLC but have participated in a 5% challenge where we strive to lose 5% of our body weight in 8 weeks. Not all set their goal at 5% and there are those that are on maintenance. The challenge has three main aspects: Team exercise minutes (limit 120 per day per person), a weekly quality of life ie water, blog, staying in calorie zone, tracking everything you eat. and goal attainment. It is fun and you should look into for the spring challenge, the winter challenge closed Monday. There is a lot of good natured challenges and a lot of support.
