Shin Splints :(

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

So I realized yesterday after my workout that I probably have shin splints. My running had been getting so much better and then this happened! I'm supposed to take a break from the treadmill but I ran tonight at the gym. I always feel fine while I'm doing it but now that I'm home my legs are throbbing. The bike and elliptical just don't give my the burn that I like when I run and I've been working my way up to running longer. I don't know, it just feels like a step backwards. The rest of my workout went well though! I did abs and the bootie today since I did arms yesterday :) How did everyone else do today? Does anyone know a good remedy to get rid of shin splints? OWWWW emoticon

I'm sorry to hear about your shins. I got shin splints in high school from attempting the long jump without much guidance. I had to quit the team the pain was so bad. Ever since then I have to be careful when running or they do come back.

I know if you stand on a step facing down and drop your toes off the front you can stretch them. Icing should help as well with 20 minutes on 30 minutes off. Also, if you've been using the same shoes for awhile you may want to replace them. Good support is also key.

I hope you feel better soon and get back at it in no time!
