It's one of my favorite lines by Cary Grant in "Indiscreet", and an edict I adhere to. Now there's evidence that lends some truth to it.

A new study published in the International Journal of Obesity builds on earlier studies that say it’s best to eat lighter meals late in the day.

The Spanish study finds that dieters who ate their main meal before 3 p.m. lost significantly more weight than those who ate later in the day. This held true even though the early eaters were eating roughly the same number of calories during the five-month weight-loss study as others in the group who ate later in the day.... read more by clicking link below.

    My main meal is still at dinner time....may change with hubby retiring next month though!

    as I recall-We used to eat a light breakfast of box cereal with non dairy milk and a little fruit,
    Moderate size lunch of maybe sandwich and chips, and the works for dinner--, meat, veggies, and other side dishes as well as dessert
    since adopting the Nutritarian way of eating in August we have reversed the pattern.
    now it is usually the Spark recipe of Oats, nuts, flaxseed dried fruit , milk, plus 1/2 cup each of 4 different fresh fruits!
    Lunch is usually a vegetable soup of some kind with veggie side dishes.
    Dinner is a large salad with 1 cup of chopped fresh veggies , including cooked mushrooms and 1/2 cup cooked beans.

    Since I'm retired I try eating my big meal for lunch. It doesn't always work but pretty often it does. I like doing it that way.

    This worked when someone was home to,cook a big meal in the morning for lunch. Our lifestyle today makes it almost impossible to live like this.

    Eat a good breakfast and lunch and a lighter evening meal Our lop sided way of life and wanting more more of every thing caused the problem

    How very strange this is--I've been saying this since the beginning of the year! And it does help. I eat a small breakfast, a large lunch and a small dinner. I've been getting more sleep than I used to and it is working! I am going to stick to this for a long time hopefully. Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
