The daily challenge today for "Come on Light My Fire!" was to try something new. It could be anything. Well, I was really in the mood for something sweet today, so I was checking out the sparkrecipes for cookie recipies. Instead, I stumbled on frozen soft serve banana ice cream. Which is essentially frozen bananas in the food processor.
Now hubby and I had gotten one for Christmas, and mas this year, and set it up, but we haven't used it yet. I wasn't sure what to do with it. So I've thrown some bananas in the freezer, and we have some frozen strawberries as well, and that will be desert tonight!
Also, it was about snack time, and none of the usual stuff sounded good, so I decided to cut up half an apple, mix it up with some cinnamon, and 1/2 a cup of vanilla low fat yogurt. OMG! I think I have a new go-to snack! It was FABULOUS! 119 calories, a serving of fruit, and some protein and calcium.
I'm not usually one to try new stuff, so I'm VERY proud of myself. :) It was UBERLY yummy, and really easy - it took maybe 5 minutes tops.
It's beginning to make me wonder, why did I ever think fast food was good? Junk food too, but to a lesser degree, as there's still some junk food that I enjoy in moderation.
Last night Chris and I stopped at White Castle as we got caught walking home in the downpour. We got a double cheeseburger each, as of course they wanted us to get something. OMG, it was HORRIBLE. I don't know how I EVER thought it was decent. Never GOOD, mind you, but edible. This wasn't edible. I ate it. But immediately regretted it.
YUCK. No more White Castle - especially - for me!!!
The healthier food doesn't HAVE to me tons more expensive. You just have to be smart about how you make it, what you make, and what you do with leftovers.
I'm so happy with my new treats :) and the taste better than say, a strawberry shake. My body is WAY happier for it, even if I haven't lost tons of weight yet. :) I just FEEL better.
Yea me! I'm so happy I started doing Spark :)
