It's been almost a year since I joined SP and in the last couple of months I feel like I'm finally making progress !!!
I've had several NSV's and am feeling great!
I hit day 100 of my log in sparkpoints streak today!
(actually should be a few more than that but I seem to have forgotten to get my log in points one day) lol
I got my 50 mile badge from fitbit this week!!
I'm way over my fitness minutes goal for the month. In fact, my goal for the year is 3960 and I'm already at 1744 and it's only January. WooHoo!! I can honestly say that I'm enjoying working out again!
I'm on day 147 of getting at least 8 glasses of water in, averaging 13 glasses per day!
My blood pressure is more under control and I avoided having to start cholesterol meds.
Things that are helping me:
Finding Sparkpeople! While looking for some motivation SP came up in my search and I clicked the link! I must say that was one of the best links I have ever clicked! After looking around a bit I decided to join the Class of Feb 5-11. Thank you Patti and Heidi for your warm welcome!
The friends I have made, the support, motivation and inspiration I have found here are irreplaceable!
I truly could not do it without you!!
I have been fortunate in that I have found some teams that I absolutely love. Team challenges have been great and I love them! I don't always get to post my weekly results but they give me that extra push I need to stay on track. A big
to the leaders who take the time to come up with those challenges. I have also participated in several SP challenges which I've enjoyed.
My attitude and the way I am looking at this journey! My Dr has told me a couple times now that she has never seen me with such a positive attitude! I give so much of the credit for that to SP. I have finally found a place where I feel like I can be myself and not compare myself to what other people are doing. We are all on the same journey but taking different routes to get to our final destination and that's great!! We are all finding what works for us! For some that may be weighing each day, for me that is staying away from the scale because it leads to frustration. For some it's walking, for some running. For some it's eating strictly vegetarian for others it's not. The point is it doesn't matter how we do it as long as we find something that gets us to our final goal.
Setting goals, taking one step, one minute, one second at a time when needed. I have found that mini goals help me! I have my ultimate goals written down but I do not concentrating on those. I am making small goals that I can see myself reaching. Consistancy and streaks - I love seeing the numbers increase on the # of days doing something.
Another big thing for me was to finally listen to my Dr and stop being a slave to the scale. She has been telling me for quite a while now to stop worrying about the numbers on the scale, concentrate on making lifestyle changes, and the weight will follow. And although I'm not seeing alot of changes yet with the actual numbers on the scale I am noticing differences in my body and the way my clothes are fitting me.
I'm doing great with tracking my exercise. I found a calendar with Mon-Sun on one page with lines for each day and a complete page for notes on the opposite page that works great for me. I track all my Wii Fit Plus info (scores, cals burned, minutes), videos, yoga, walking, etc and then transferring them to SP. I could just log them on SP but I'm finding that I am doing better if I actually see it in writing on my calendar because I don't want to see blank days!
Taking time for me!! This has been so very important and the only way I can get those fitness minutes in, take a breather from the everyday stresses, and regroup.
Being kind to me! Forgiving myself for small (or large) setbacks! It's not going to be a perfect journey but it will be a successful no matter how long it takes!
My Fitbit! I got it at Christmas time and it keeps me motivated to take those extra steps and to stay off the bottom of the leaderboard of people on my Fitbit friend list.
Things to work on:
The biggest thing right now is tracking food. I will do it for a week or two, then slack off. I am paying attention to what I eat but know I do much better when tracking consistently. I need that accountability of actually writing every bite down.
I'm sure there are other things I will think of but that is my main thing right now.
Here's to being happier, healthier, and more fit!!
