112 Days to Goal
Clean eating? Anti-inflammatory eating? Paleo?
So Paleo and Anti-inflammatory don't always agree on everything. I have threatened to stop the car . . . .
But seriously . . .
Paleo is ok with meats that anti-inflammatory doesn't like and anti-inflammatory is fine with legumes that Paleo doesn't like. Working on a bastardized blend of the two that will keep my joints happy. My joints will win the argument every time. They are the reason we have expedited a return to the wagon.
So yesterday was my best food day in a long time. I ate all fresh and natural (as natural as we can eat without growing our own). Went to the brewery for a fund raiser and had a grilled chicken wrap in a spinach tortilla, choosing a jicama salad as the side - GO ME!!! Had forgotten that I was going to try to avoid meat until after I had already ordered it. But still one of the healthiest choices I've made while dining out in a really long time. And figure fish and the occasional grilled chicken breast is more realistic than going completely veggie at the moment. I had two of my favorite Woody Stouts. And was still only over my calorie goal by 50 calories.
As usual, once I decided sugar is off the list, I had no trouble staying away from anything sweet - and immediately don't have cravings to deal with all day - of any kind. The late afternoon craving for a binge goes away, the urge to have things that aren't good for me goes away . . . .
I did about 10 minutes of sun salutations in the office yesterday. Not nearly enough, but it's about a million degrees in here because the system is set for the 20 degrees we've been having, but it was 70 out yesterday. And I wasn't exactly dressed for it. Would be awesome to have clothes here to do 30 minutes during lunch. Will kick that around and see if I can get motivated to do that.
And I went home and did 3 miles. I had decided to try running every other song to ease back in to running. I've been off running since I tweaked my knee on the 18th. Amazing, with how horribly bad I felt when I got up yesterday morning (and the previous 2 or 3 days) that I was able to walk, much less run - but the run (aka jog) went really well for the first three songs. On the fourth song everything was really loose and I was starting to think I could keep running the rest of the route - when my knee informed me that that would be a BAD idea. So I walked the rest of the way . . . .and got home and got in the car and drove for 40 minutes. And was pretty stiff when we got where we were going. It's weird. The knee doesn't hurt when I'm not on it. It just feels stiff when I'm walking on it, particularly when I straighten it out. But it's getting better slowly. Just taking it easy and letting it tell me what to do.
So - the combination of better food, motrin, and some moving seems to have helped. I already feel 100 times better today than I did yesterday.
Supposed to be wicked bad weather tonight (winds gusting to 70 and 2 inches of rain). So I'm planning to do an upper body P90X and some yoga. Food is planned out for the day and looking for more "anti-inflammatory" foods to incorporate into my diet. Need some nice sauce recipes to go with steamed/stir fried veggies. Will incorporate ginger, turmeric, etc., which are supposed to be anti-inflammatory. And already going through my collected SP recipes and searching the message board and recipe site.
OK - back to work. Here's to another successful day for all of us! :-D
