Day 12: WHY do I want to lose weight?

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

I used to say to fit into size 7 jeans, and I suppose that is a fine goal. As I age though, my focus has become much deeper.

I want to be healthy. I am tired of being "winded" at the most basic tasks. I want to see my children grow up, I want to play with my grandchildren when I get them.

I want my life insurance to go down and I want to throw the blood pressure pills in the garbage. My Mom Told me once you go on BP meds you can never go off of them. I disagree.

I want my life back. I am tired of feeling achy. I want to feel good. Eating right and exercise gives me self empowerment. I am doing this for so much more than a pair of size 7 jeans.

Depending on your age, of course you can toss your BP pills once you lose weight! But we do get older, and the day will come. Not to be a downer, but look around an old folks home. Not a lot of overweight people there. They all died first. THERE is a motive! I want to be one of those old ladies walking around the mall in a knit track suit, with plans to see the great grandkids that day.

Those size 7 jeans are nice as you say, but you have really hit on what is more important .. emoticon emoticon emoticon
What great insight and wonderful goals to keep you motivated. You are in control and empowered to make healthier choices for yourself.. right now that means you need to rely some on meds but with hard work, determination , exercise and healthy food choices you may not need them in the future. emoticon emoticon

I had pretty high cholesterol at one time in the fairly recent past and since I have lost my weight, my numbers are excellent and my blood pressure and pulse have come down. emoticon
