I've made some big changes this week! The biggest being a schedule switch. I'm now waking up at 3:45, having breakfast, and hitting the gym at 4:30. I plan on bumping that to 3:30 and gym by 4 in the next few days. As a result I've been making it to bed by 8 and sleeping soundly! I have so much more energy and motivation to get things done during the day and by night I'm ready to sleep. For someone who's suffered with Insomnia most of her life this is an excellent change. I'm sleeping more and with a better quality of sleep than I've seen in years!
I've changed my workouts as well! I am hitting the gym during the weekdays and saving my weekends for active time with my family! Currently I'm pretty focused on cardio but I'm working on adding in some strength training at home. I have a set of hand weights, some stretchy bands, and a stability ball plus my aerobic step for circuit intervals. Next week I'm adding the strength training to my "slow" days at the gym when I stay to intensity 1 and only do 3.1 miles.
Today really tested my new routine. Not so much the getting up and getting out of bed but my workout was particularly tough. I had a 50 minute interval workout scheduled for today. My body wanted to give up after just 20 minutes. I talked myself through each five minute section until the time was over and done with. Positive self talk works! Try it! I know at first you feel like you are crazy but the more you do it the easier it becomes.
February is an exciting month! It's flexibility month! I can't wait. I have a yoga sequence to help me be able to limber up enough to do the splits! This is something I've wanted to do my entire life but have yet to accomplish it. I'm hoping by the end of the month I'll be able to do the splits. Stretching is such a vital part of becoming fitter. A daily stretch helps me to relax at night I'm hoping adding this morning sequence will get me ready for the day after my workout!
