Principally Speaking

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both " Dwight D. Eisenhower

We sure have a lot of privileges in this country that some of us take for granted, me included. A warm house, a government that tries to make sure it's people are taken care of. Free Speech, We are a country protected by it's military and police that have to work with high integrity and the hugest standards .We can go to the store to get safe clean food and water, and to any gym or workout facility we choose . We have the right to get a free early childhood education, and many others.

Some of the people in the world have none of these. We got our privileges from the people that came before us. They worked hard to make it happen. We now have a society based on freedom and justice.

Now it is up to us to make sure we keep these privileges by having high ideals. by spending wisely , by valuing freedom ,hard work, and integrity. So next time you decide to buy your fifth coffee of the week from the specialty store give your coffee to a vet. and make sure you leave a little extra tip to the hard working waitress who brings it. Remember principles over privileges wins every time.

Well said. We need to value our freedom and give back to those who are protecting that freedom. Yes what a privilege we have in this country. the land of the free and the brave.

Well put!! Once again, I wish that your blog were available to a wider audience than just our Spark community - I think that there are far too many people who don't even know which principles are forming their decisions. If we don't reflect on the good things in life, we can lose sight of what it took to make them happen, and then, how can we keep them from slipping away?!

Absolutely right. My son jsut sent me a text to
tell me that if ever I'm feeling down about our
financial situation, to look on the bright side
as we are wealthier than all of Zimbabwe as
News stated that country only has $217 in
the bank...We are indeed lucky to have the life
we have. Pay it forward. emoticon

showing gratitude for what we have should be a natural thing to do.
There are times I've paid for a OAP's shopping basket when I've seen her struggle with their purse.
Share the wealth and be grateful you can do so.

Have a great day Joanne emoticon
