Bob Harper, Bruce Banner & Me

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

I got an inexpensive DVD with Bob Harper the other day.

I wanted to mix it up a bit.

So tonight I tried it out. My daughter and I did the Bob Harper "Butt and Balance" workout - it's 20 minutes in length.

I want to rename it "Anything But Balance" because I really stink at this workout.

It is quite challenging.

And that's a GOOD thing.

It is going to take some time - maybe weeks, perhaps months - to get a bit more comfortable with this workout.

Then it was down to the rec room to do my best impression of The Hulk.

15 minutes of smashing a medicine ball to the ground, squatting down, picking it up and then repeating it again.

My daughter and I sometimes say "Hulk Smash" when we are smashing the ball. We liked the Avengers movies and so it makes it fun.

This is hands-down one of my favorite exercises because it doesn't seem like exercise.
But at the end, I'm sweating and definitely can tell I've worked hard.

Mixing it up is a good thing, as I wrote the other day.

I think this DVD & Medicine Ball Workout is going to be a good one to have in the rotation.

What are YOUR favorite workouts?

Tell me about them if you have a moment.

And hey...

Make it a great day!
Matt

Bob Harper has some challenging DVD's out there! But hey, he's the biggest loser guy so I guess we should expect it! emoticon Some of my favorite workout is step, Turbo Jam, spinning, P90X, etc. I also just started doing 30 day workouts from the "Metabolic Masterpiece Program". I have enough workouts to choose from to keep my busy for a year!

HI Matt, glad you found a fun one! That means you'll do it again.
Besides Buddy, my ever increasing speed and incline treadmill for which I have developed a real fondness, I have a Total Gym, which is great for strength training. I also do a variety of cardio dvds, Slim in Six, Coach Nicole's 28 day are two of my favorites. I throw in Yoga sometimes. But when time is short, the 9-10 minute sessions from Spark Coaches are great. I do the seated arm workout with dumbbells by Coach Nicole often - it is great. emoticon

Spark On!

I like the Avengers, too, although I'm still choked that they replaced Ed Norton. :( Your new video sounds good ~ keep it going! I just downloaded some very good, and not too long, yoga balance work-outs today so I'm working on balance, too. Swimming, however, is my passion when it comes to workouts. Hope you're having a great day, Matt. emoticon emoticon

I am so with you on the non-balance, Matt! I did this same workout on Monday and it was a real challenge! I'm still feeling it in my glutes and the sides of my calves. It's definitely something I need to continue to work on, since my balance is so lousy. Part of that is due to my BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) and part of it is due to just not working it.

Other than running, I most enjoy just getting as much variety in my workouts as I can. I'm easily bored, so I'm especially grateful for our public library where I can rent videos instead of having to buy them.

Hope you're having a great Wednesday!

How great that your daughter participates in some of your workouts - great bonding time! I do a combination of things depending on the weather - long walks outside, 75 minute yoga classes that totally kick my butt, bike, swim laps at the local pool (though that has been infrequent as of late), or do a circuit training video (the latest one incorporates resistance bands so I'm still trying to get the hang of it). Swing on!

I like the treadmill as long as there's a TV on it or in front of it. And, I'm getting back into step aerobics. emoticon

Glad that you like the Bob Harper Work out DVD. It's also good to do family exercise. Your daughter seems like a good exercise buddy. (^^)

Thank you for your comment on my blog about needing help on my foods..
I will take time and study some more about it. I hate to giving up. I'll do my best. Take care.

I enjoy plain old running. For strength training I do a Body Pump class at the gym.

My fav workout is Zumba I love it, I have moved up a notch to expert and feel anything but as I get my feet knotted up trying to follow the guy. Hubby says women should do the women zumba as men move differently.(Male Chauv anyone!!!! ha ha)

But I also got Country dance for Christmas and its fun too. emoticon

I was walking and doing water aerobics twice a week. When the weather got colder I was at a bit of a loss, but started doing the SP videos. Recently I started doing Zumba twice a week. And there is always the elliptical sitting right behind, beckoning me to hop on whenever the mood strikes!

I like to go outside for a power walk with upbeat music if I can!
I am enjoying the SP 28 day bootcamp DVD as well.
I am still attempting to figure out the movements to my Zumba DVD, but that will come with time and practice, like your balance with Bob Harper!
