Breakfast musings - hot drinks

Hot chocolate, coffee. We have hot chocolate sometimes for breakfast, but it is usually an occasional, late-night drink in the winter, now.
My father drank coffee, but none of the rest of us ever did. I remember opening my father’s Maxwell House coffee grounds can. I loved opening the new can because the smell of the coffee grounds was wonderful. I had the job of filling the coffee maker with the grounds and the water for dad’s morning breakfast. He got up early and turned on the coffee maker. He filled his thermos with that coffee and some crème (real cream on occasion, but usually half-n-half), and would take a cup filled with the same on his drive to work.
I do not think that dad ever had any hot chocolate. Mom did.
