Wet dog... wet me!

So I set out on my morning walk under beautiful weather conditions. But that didn't last... oh no, definitely not! Around miles 4 it started raining, then it started pouring, then the thunder and lightning started. Cooper was NOT a happy pup! I ended up carrying him the last 1.5 miles inside my jacket. Even that didn't help much as I was just wearing a denim jacket, not a raincoat. It soaked through the denim jacket, the hoodie I was wearing as well as the turtleneck and tshirt I had on. My boots got soaked, as did my jeans. I changed into dry things on my top half, but left on the jeans because, yes, I can be a moron at times. I could not get warm... and it didn't occur to me until I was sitting in the restaurant with my friend having lunch that it was probably the clammy jeans I was wearing. Doh! I did eventually dry out, except my hair which is still damp. Cooper got warmed up and dried out by running around my apartment like a crazy dog and rubbing up against all the furniture.

I am going to do my best to get to the gym tomorrow, but plans are evolving with my niece that may prevent it. I will have to play it by ear and stay flexible. If it isn't raining tomorrow I might just run outside, as the temperature is mild enough and the sidewalks are clear. For some reason I still feel self conscious about running outside. I have no troubles running at the gym. I wish I had someone to run with me. I think that would help a lot.

Today I walked a total of 10.1 miles and did 45 modified pushups and 24 big girl pushups. That's enough, don't you think?! (They helped get me warm again though.)

I would have been ok with the rain, but the thunder and lightning would have scared the putooty out of me. Wow My goal for February is 15 miles and you nearly did that in one day....I am jealous but WTG!!!!!!

Poor Puppy but hopefully he is better now ... You are a better person than me i would have changed the jeans before the upper ware lol ... You did an excellent job on exercise ... Remember that flexible is good unless it interferes with your own goals ... You are worth the time and family loves you enough to make time when you are available . emoticon emoticon emoticon

Somehow, it makes the completion that much sweeter, doesn't it?
Twice I was in downpours: 2nd day (50 miles) bike ride of a two-day, 100 miler, monsoon all day long; on a run, started out w/nice day, wound up absolutely SOAKED from hard rain.
Kinda fun, tho' & makes for a good story! emoticon

Well, I am impressed! Anyone who can walk six miles (it started raining at mile 4, right?) deserves respect. I'd have high-tailed it for home as fast as I could. Can you tell I'm not too fond of being drenched? With that kind of dedication, you will go far - literally as well as figuratively.

It is wonderful that you walked so far and I don't want to "rain on your parade" but I do think everyone should know it is very dangerous to be outside during a thunder storm. If it's just raining, fine, go ahead and walk in the rain - just not while there's lightning. You could easily be struck by it.
Keep up the good work!

Try watching the weather forecast or rather go to the gym for the emoticon .Long distance walking in the rain may be dangerous for your health. emoticon emoticon

Walkin your dog is a great idea if you are physically able to do so. Sorry about the rain. Next time check the weather forcast and if the weather is going to be bad, If so, you have several choices. You could do a walk 3 mile dvd. If once isn't enough, you could do it twice. You could go to the gym or even walk in the mall. emoticon

I am always getting soaked being out with my dogs too!!! I have 2, and one of them really hates the rain...today, we got lots of rain...and I have 2 really wet dogs!!! But you are probably like me and many dog owners...we will do anything for them...they are the best companions....Do you run with your dog? I am trying to teach my two to run with me (and stay beside, not in front of me)...let me know if you have any tips... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good thing it wasn't a Newfoundland dog . . . although the rain would probably have pleased him and then you would have had a much longer hike!
Great story and even better attitude.
Love the wet jeans: kind of thing I would do! emoticon

emoticon on your walk, keep up the great work...I loved the story about your dog, reminds me of my Toy Manchester Terrier I had while growing up, he sure didn't like anything to do with rain, every morning it rained he seemed to always know, I'd take him for his morning run before school, he would stick his head out the back door see the rain and promptly turn around and run back up the stairs to my bedroom and hide under the bed, he was hoping he wouldn't be found, different story with snow, he'd run around grabbing the snow and tossing it up in the air, you couldn't get him to come back in, I too got my exercise running around the park trying to catch him, he sure was a sweet boy! I'm cheering you on... emoticon emoticon
