Ups and Downs, Success and Lessons

Is it really only Tuesday?? Ugh........ It feels like this week won't end, but it just started!!! It's not a bad week, just long.

I was bad last night. I had bought some campfire candies from whatever group was outside of the grocery store on Sunday. Then last night I proceeded to sit down after dinner and consume the ENTIRE BOX. Yep. I did it. I was full before I finished it but I kept going. emoticon

But on the other end of things, I got up this morning - was very tired (per the usual) and was fighting to keep my eyes open on the drive in. I sat in my car for 10 minutes in the parking lot of the gym for a mini-nap. After my 10 min was up, I went into the gym and did my HIIT workout. It was the same one as last week and just as challenging. I am still sore from Sunday's run... so all movement is taking a little extra work! The important thing though, is that I got my workout in. 8 workouts in 9 days. All intense workouts. I know my body will be thankful for a break come Saturday!

So, I am doing really well with my workouts right now. I feel good about what I'm doing. I need to get on track with my eating though. Espeically right now because I know I'm not getting the fuel I need, hense my being so tired! I need to experiment to see what will make me feel the best/most full all day. I was thinking about adding a protein shake post-workout, but really I get enough protein without it, so I'm thinking maybe some 2% chocolate milk. Just 8oz, but something to put into my body right after my workout. If anybody else has any other thoughts I'd love to hear them!

Bottom line... keep up with the fitness, get back on track with nutrition!!

    Nice job on the workouts - you really will have earned your rest day! As for the chocolate milk - sure there are better options, but it's good to go for what you're craving and keep it in moderation. I'm a Luna bar kinda gal myself. Keep pushing!

    Get job getting that workout in this morning! As for the food thoughts, chocolate milk is full of sugar between the naturally occurring sugars in milk and the added sugar from chocolate, it's almost the same as a soda. I think you'd find a protein shake or even a smoothie with good complex carb and some protein in it would be beneficial. I've read several articles on the importance of a good snack after a workout, especially intense workouts. Here is one that explains a bit of why and gives some great ideas on post workout snacks.

    I drink 2% chocolate after my long runs and extra hard workouts. My body actually craves it. And plus it's yummy :)

  Sounds like the fitness part is going wonderfully for you; you are better than I am that's for sure. These days I have to push myself to get out the door and walk! Kudos for that; don't know about the tiredness; could be food or just this time of year. That's what I've been wondering about too. Careful what you add in carbs to your diet; choose wisely for you and stay in control. It's so easy to cheat; if I have it in the house, it's in my stomach for sure. When I go grocery shopping I make sure I'm full, because everything looks tempting when I'm hungry. You have to take care of the hunger in the best caloric way possible. Just read on your site; wow, you have really done well losing the weight; are you eating enough now to keep you going and yet maintaining at the same time.
REthink what you are doing every day with the food intake...maybe you should have that chocolate milK!

    Wow! You've really got your fitness on track. I need some of that kind of motivation.

As for the nutrition, just hang in there. It will come along!
