Sweaty Beauty Bag

SO admit it- you like sweating. Dripping, icky, sticky sweat means that you really hit that workout hard....

Its often said, if you look cute after a workout, your were NOT working out hard enough. Thats probably true- but if you've ever been in any kindof physical performance you know that your audience doesnt care one bit that you are sweating it out like a mad person. They want you to look coiffed.

As a fitness instructor, I learned that too much coiffed-ness is intimidating, but not enough can turn people away. For dance performances, you need stuff that sticks to your face and wont go away.

My goal isnt to suggest that every sweat session should be done wearing full makeup, but if you are ever in a situation where you have to look pretty sweating (Ok-I think sweat is pretty without any additions, but Im not everyone), here are some of my favorite products that have been tested before an audience:

Its a total pain to have zits. And then to wear icky foundation that just makes it worse. Which is why I love Boscias BB cream- if youve got major blemishes it may not work, but for basic imperfections it evens things out and gives you a natural glow, while treating your skin to some major nourishment... without feeling heavy (HUGELY important for me)... without tons of icky chemicals.

now for the chemicals: I LOVE this stuff. The Nars Illuminator creams are again, very natural looking, layerable, and do well through a sweat session since they are gel-like. There are three different shades for three different looks- they are all great in my books.

If anyone knows of natural lip stain that can REALLY stay, please tell me- the best Ive tried is this amazing lip stain by Beaute Cosmetics... I should warn that it tastes terrible, like death, but it clings to your lips or cheeks for all its worth, giving you a very pronounced pout. Layer a soft pink lip gloss over it to tone it down a notch. This stuff lasted through a 3-hour live dance show.... One application, three hours. Nuff said.

It might just be me- but one of the most important things for me in a mascara is that it doesnt burn my eyes- which a lot of mascaras do once you start sweating and they either run or flake into your eyes (waterproofs included!). Which is why this mascara, Tarte's Amazonian Clay Mascara, is awesome- made from amazonian clay it is very gentle- and it sticks to those lashes! Maybe not through crying, but I can make it through a sweat session without racoon eyes :)

And finally: how do you get all this stuff OFF of your skin on the go? The Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths are HANDS DOWN the best facial cleansing wipes Ive ever tried (and Ive tried a lot in my day- having to go from training to class to dinner etc., wanting to freshen up quickly in between)... They get everything, everything off- leaving your skin totally clear, but not dried out. Simply the best. Why oh why did Sephora stop selling them??

Ok! Well those are my favorite sweat-session beauty products... do you have any? Could you not care less? Do you ever have to sweat and look pretty? Please, do tell :)

I have sparse eyebrows and always use an eyebrow pencil. It looks awful after I run, but I don't like not having them on. I agree about the stinging mascara, I stopped wearing it to the gym.
