Shoveling Snow

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

When I went out to get the mail today I noticed the snow and ice on the driveway was melting so I decided it would be a good time to shovel it off. When I was finishing up I realized what a great workout it was! I really worked up a sweat. I should probably still use my recumbent bike today though!!

Shoveling snow is definitely great exercise! Just be sure to take plenty of rest time in-between so you don't over-do it. Never fill your shovel completely - it's too heavy that way. Take a small bit of snow every time. Good job!!

I just looked up shoveling snow on my SP phone application and it burns 351 calories per 30 minutes. That is a great workout using lots of muscles and burning cardio. I don't live where it snows.... maybe I could go to the beach and shovel sand.
